Kurumi Miwa is from Tokyo where she began her ballet training at age 3. At 19 years old she was awarded a merit scholarship to continue her training at the Joffrey School of Ballet in New York where she trained under the direction of Era Jouravlev. At Joffrey she danced the roles of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and was a principal dancer in Naina’s Magic Garden. Ms. Miwa has also trained with the Central School of Ballet in London, the Royal Danish Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Oklahoma City Ballet and Maryland Youth Ballet. In 2018, Ms. Miwa took 1st place at the Japan Ballet Competition where she also received the Technical Award and a Special Judges award. During 2019, she took 1st place in the Jewels Ballet Festival Competition and 2nd place at the World Ballet Grand Prix in New York. Ms. Miwa joined MBT in March, 2021.
